Quick stop at Villagio & the heart of the old village

Our cafe trotting journey was set to take off in December and yet one early November morning, Sir Chino thought it fitting to treat me to a quick cuppa' at the local....

First Impressions: Although the setting was buzzing with fellow coffee lovers and those sitting down to breakfast, I found the upbeat, modern atmosphere figuratively cold.I don't think anything sets this place apart from other in-store franchised cafe's.

We grabbed a seat outside in the breeze

Orders:  For Sir Chino a double shot Cappuccino & a decaf cappuccino with cream for me.

Service Rating:  Poor
  •  We were seated for 20 minutes before we were served.
  • Our Waitress did not introduce herself.
  • We waited another 20 min for our coffee & another 15minutes for the bill

Coffee Rating:  7/10
  •  Good quality filtered coffee
  • Best cream I've ever tasted!

Sir Chino's been raving about their food so we'll have to return for a proper visit.

My little sister & I recently discovered another gem in the heart of  Muizenbergs Old Village down Palmer Road.
The Owner of the former Satori of  Kalk Bay moved shop during the 2010 road renovations.
This quaint local coffee shop bears the name of  Kitch Kombuis.  I simply fell in love with its rustic
ambiance. The counter is lined with freshly baked goods; savoury tartlets, the greek equivalent of alfajores (powdered biscuits), apple pie etc.
I ordered a serious hot chocolate & my lil' sis opted for a banana milkshake

Was it the sound of the old men singing folk songs accompanied by a steel stringed guitar or the cafe's fresh fruit & veg stand? Was it the cobble stone roads or the nostalgic tales these gentleman told that made me feel as if my sister & I had truly found the heart of the old village?
Service Rating: Excellent!
  • Service is friendly & aquaintive

Beverage Rating: 9/10
  • Milkshakes are made with fresh fruit, vanilla ice cream and a lil' milk
  •  Kitch Kombuis  only uses Lativva  coffee/cocoa beans
